Okay. I was moaning about this, so they gave me permission to make a "tutorial" page. It's not the best, but bear with me. It might even help somebody. :D
Wolfspeak, and why you should avoid it:
Wolfspeak, or purple prose, is quite common in animal RPs. You might think it makes you sound intelligent, but really, it doesn't.
Wolfspeak is the swapping of perfectly sensible words to flowery ones to make a boring roleplay more exciting. But usually, the definitions of the words don't even match. Here's an example:
Fae:
Wolfspeak says:
A female wolf/dog.
Dictionary says:
"a device consisting of a container of fuel and two explosive charges; the first charge bursts open the fuel container at a predetermined height and spreads the fuel in a cloud that mixes with atmospheric oxygen; the second charge detonates the cloud which creates an enormous blastwave and incinerates whatever is below"
or
"A scots word, meaning "from""
So, is your character a bomb? A scottish word? A fairy? Didn't think so.
Sidenote: If you use the word fae because you aren't comfortable using the actual word for a female dog, that's okay. But don't use it to mean the female gender in general, please.

RP Commandments:
1. Thou shalt not interrupt another cublet's RP post, if they say they are continuing ( >>>>, -c-) they mean it. -d- means "done"
2. Thou shalt not use wolfspeak. Or Tweetie'll eat you.
3. Thou shall listen to Cloud. Sometimes, he even talks sense!
4. Thou shalt not create a Mary/Gary sue. To check if your character is a M/G Sue, use a quiz like this:
http://www.springhole.net/writing/marysue.htm
Or ask another member. They won't bite!
Okay, so they're not actually commandments. But if you follow these, it'll benefit you and others you're RPing with.
Another thing that is good to think about when RPing is character realism. Cheetahs aren't the size of lions, lions don't submit to cheetahs. Hyenas can hunt their own food, and this is more common than scavenging. Cheetah's and canines don't "roar" and canines don't have retractable claws. This is a semi-realistic roleplay, so it isn't too big a deal, but it's good to pay a little attention to your chosen animal's behaviour. Here's a good guide for cheetahs:http://cftheforbiddenlands.proboards.com/thread/534/information-on-cheetahs-all-read
This may also give some ideas to RPers of other species.

Character Q&A;
Q :How many characters can I have?
A: You start with one character. Personally, I would get them set up, and get a feel for RPing in TFL before thinking about a second character. Some people (like me) never want to move on from their starter chars. Once you have been with the RP long enough, and have shown you aren't about to randomly leave, you can possibly get a second one.
Q : What species can I have?
A: It's a multi-species RP, but there a few main species. Look at the forum for help, and if you have a character which isn't listed there, just ask.
Q: How "human" can my character be?
A: This is a hard question to answer. As for any character design, whatever feels right for you, you're the one RPing 'em.
Q: What colors can they be?
A: They can be any semi-realistic colors. So the colors don't have to be found on that species, but they have to close enough, and found in nature as a minimum. No sparkledogs, please!
